Year 7 and 8
Students have the opportunity to fully engage with all learning areas and capabilities, with a focus on English and Mathematics.
The curriculum deepens and broadens at the commencement of the secondary curriculum areas. Secondary students at Featherbrook college begin to engage with Design and Technologies including Food and Textiles; and they further experience a broader range of sports and physical education options. My Career Insights
My Career Insights provide every Year 9 students in a Victorian government school with free access to Morrisby Online, an internationally recognised career diagnostic tool, followed by a one-on-one career counselling session by a qualified external careers practitioner trained in the Morrisby tool.
The Department has engaged the Career Education Association of Victoria (CEAV) to deliver the 2 components of the program in schools.
The My Career Insights has been designed to support Year 9 students to make better informed subject selections as part of their senior secondary school certificates, vocational education and training, and further study.
All Year 9 students have access to My Career Portfolio, an online resource designed to support students to:
- capture information about their interests, skills and goals
- develop their Career Action Plans
- store documents they can use to plan their course and career pathways, and access resources to find out about tertiary courses and work
