Year 8 Shutterbugs

What talent! What skill! What creativity! Walking through the LCD building yesterday felt like I had made my way into the National Gallery of Victoria such was the eye-catching beauty and intrigue captured by our year 8 photography students in their latest work.

Using the DSLR cameras, the year 8 students captured images based on themes of nature, shape, pattern, texture and leading lines. Teacher, Nicole Houlihan has introduced the students to compositional elements such as the rules of thirds and where to place horizon line to create interesting images. Once the students had a sound knowledge of composition and camera use they looked at the effect setting on the camera. The students then used this setting to produce images saturated in colours or stylised with effects such as illustration, black and white and pop colour. The images make for a colourful display outside the senior art room in LCD and really do cause those who pass by, to stop, gaze and enjoy. Congratulations Year 8 students!
