Physics

The Year 1/2 students immersed themselves in the world of engineering today. Students were provided reused CD cases and given a set of parameters to work within. They followed instructions to measure, rule and cut templates to use as an outline on their CD cases. Once completed, the CD cases were made into shells which trapped light to create holograms. The students, led by Nathan and Edward of year 7, were taught how light can be manipulated and reflect off different surfaces. The reflection of light, in line with the laws of physics, can combine to make holograms appear from specific videos from a device (iPad or Tablet). The students were in awe of the final product and how physics can present to us visually, what could be perceived as magic.
