Environmental Science
Today students across the school visited the science lab to learn about the flora (plants) that exist within our school. Lead by Reyansh and Drake of year 7, the students were shown images, the scientific notation, common name and biological descriptions of the flora within our school. Students were then shown how to make a wicking pot through reusable materials; lead by sustainability team member Ms Virginia Millard. Students watched as Ms Millard turned some old cloth and a milk carton into a sustainable pot which could provide a plant water for up to 2 weeks. Ms Millard incorporated science into her demonstration, with the help of Reyansh and Drake and showed the students the wonders of engineering and ingenuity.
Students pondered physiological implications of the wicking pot depending on the types of plant species that were planted.
