National Day of Action Against Bullying

23.03.2022

Our Featherbrook College students enjoy learning about and through key frameworks such as Respectful Relationships, the School-Wide Positive Behaviour System and the Berry Street Education Model. Specific lessons are planned for and delivered throughout each week to build a culture of kindness and care for others. I know that our students and teachers work hard to create an environment of not just tolerance for others, but deep respect for each other. This cannot be left to chance and so the deliberate and intentional instruction to support our students in making safe and caring decisions is a key part of our provision. Acknowledging this work through events such as the National Day of Action Against Bullying, and further highlighting the importance of being mindful and vigilant in this respect, is welcomed.

Students shared their thoughts and sentiments about this national day of action depicted on hands which in turn were placed together to make a colourful and eye-catching mural adorning part of the administration space: ‘Stand up to the bully and walk away.’ ‘Stick up for others.’ ‘Tell a trusted guardian.’ Say ‘Stop It! I don’t like it!’
