Inspired by J Vincent Scarpace

I joined a Year 3 Visual Arts webex session today led by visual arts teacher Ms Louise Johnson. New York born artist J Vincent Scarpace was introduced to the students by Ms Johnson. The artist was a former teacher who forged a creative pathway to create unique works of art, often with a 'fish' theme.

The year three students have been examining various artists and how an artist can develop a way of mark making to give them a unique style. This morning, the students looked at the work of Scarpace who uses the elements of colour pattern and line in his artworks. They looked at works done with watercolour, acrylics and ink and could see the same mark making though all the different mediums. Students were asked to use the techniques they could see in the artworks to create their own pictures. The results speak for themselves!
